4th of July Patriotic Crafts and Decorating Ideas

Next weekend is the 4th of July…already! I want to hold onto Summer and not let it to go by as fast as it seems to be already. Why is it that the longest day of the year was yesterday and we are just getting our nice weather here in NH.

We are headed down to NC on Thursday for our annual trip to the beach with my family and will be celebrating the 4th with them. I love the excitement and spirit of the day.  We usually spend the day on the beach playing bocce ball and playing in the nice warm water.  The ocean water here barely gets to 65 in the dead of Summer, so to be able to actually swim in nice warm 78 – 80 degree water is fabulous!

Then, after showering (does anything feel better than that shower after a day on the beach? Especially an outdoor shower!)  we get ready for our cookout with great food which usually includes the traditional hamburgers and hotdogs. I am charge of my favorite southern potato salad, Balsamic Broccoli Slaw and Layered Taco Dip and Homemade Guacamole. I usually get a few new recipes to bring home with me too. I’ll be sharing any if I do. :-)

Then head down to watch the fireworks on the beach.  I love sitting on the beach in the dark with our toes in the cool sand watching the fireworks.

Do you have any traditions for the 4th of July?

I was looking for new decorating ideas for this year and found so many fun ones.  Here are several wonderful and clever ideas for decorating for the 4th.

I owe this post to my Hubby.  He researched and wanted to make our own wood cutting boards. Why I asked? Because he doesn’t like the idea of plastic potentially making it’s way in to food using a plastic cutting board.  OK, honey. I get that. How did he do it?  It was really very […]
